Japanese Antique Brass Stamp Box with applied metal designs from late Meiji period. Metal craftsmen began making various decorative boxes and other items after Samurai were not allowed to carry swords at beginning of Meiji period and these metal designed pieces couldn't be 新品 on sword handles any longer. This stamp box has very detailed designs applied to sides & top as shown. Top one shows two women in kimonos with baskets of fish and fruit with a bird above. The four sides also feature fruit baskets & flowers as shown. A nice addition to any collection of Japanese antique metalwork.
